Fiber doors in Pakistan have moved from hospitals and washrooms into ordinary homes, offices and housing schemes, and for good reason. Wooden and MDF doors swell in the monsoon, rot at the bottom in bathrooms and are eaten by termites. A fiber door is moulded from a composite material that does not absorb water like timber and contains nothing for termites to feed on.
This guide explains what a fiber (FRP) door is, where it works best, how it compares with wood, why the frame matters just as much as the door, and how to choose, measure and order the right one. It draws on the DEX Fiber Doors & HDPE Door Frames Catalogue 2026, which covers 110 door designs in seven collections, all manufactured by Desert Expert Traders (Pvt) Ltd at our own facility in Gujranwala.
What Is a Fiber Door?
A fiber door is a door leaf made from fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP): reinforcing fibre bound in resin and moulded into a door. In Pakistan it is usually just called a “fiber door”. The surface is finished to look like real wood grain, a solid colour, or a carved, raised-panel or grooved pattern, so it sits comfortably in a traditional home as well as a modern one.
What separates it from a wooden, MDF or particle-board door is the material itself. There is no timber to swell, split or rot, and no wood fibre for termites to attack. That is why fiber doors first became the standard choice for bathrooms, and why more homeowners now use them throughout the house.
Every DEX Fiber Door is 1.5 inches thick and made to the exact size of your opening. You can see the full range on our DEX Fiber Doors page.

Why Are Fiber Doors Becoming Popular in Pakistan?
Pakistan is hard on doors. Heavy monsoon rain, humid summers in Punjab and Sindh, daily washing in bathrooms and widespread termite activity all shorten the life of timber. Many families replace or repair wooden bathroom doors every few years.
- Water resistance. The FRP leaf does not soak up water, so it does not swell, delaminate or rot in bathrooms and damp rooms.
- Termite resistance. With no wood content, the door leaf gives termites nothing to eat.
- Stable shape. The catalogue notes that DEX doors hold their shape through heat, rain and humidity, so they keep closing properly.
- Low maintenance. A wipe with a damp cloth keeps them clean, with no repainting or regular re-polishing.
- Real wood look. Deep grain textures and carved designs give the warmth of timber without its weaknesses.
- Made to size. Each door is produced for your opening, including older houses with non-standard sizes.
Where Can Fiber Doors Be Used?
Bathroom doors
This is where fiber doors earn their reputation. Splashing, steam and floor washing destroy the bottom of timber doors; an FRP leaf is suitable for wet areas and simply wipes dry. Pair it with a non-timber frame so the whole opening resists moisture.
Kitchen doors
Kitchens bring heat, steam and frequent cleaning. A fiber door handles everyday kitchen conditions and cleans easily with mild soap and water.
Bedroom doors
For bedrooms, appearance matters most. The Classic Panel and Signature collections offer warm wood-grain finishes and raised panels that look like traditional joinery.
Office doors
The Modern Line collection, with clean grooves and flush surfaces, suits offices, clinics and commercial interiors.
Main entrance doors
Royal Carved and Grand Double designs are made for statement entrances. For main doors facing open weather rather than a porch or covered area, share the site details with us so we can advise on finish and hardware.
Commercial and industrial applications
Schools, hospitals, offices, hotels and industrial sites use fiber doors where durability and easy cleaning matter. In damp or industrial areas, specify stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant hinges and locks, because the metal hardware, not the FRP leaf, is what can rust.

Fiber Door vs Wooden Door
Both have their place, but in Pakistani conditions the differences are clear. For a deeper comparison, read our guide on fiber doors vs wooden doors.
| Feature | DEX Fiber Door | Wooden / MDF Door |
|---|---|---|
| Water & moisture | Water-resistant; does not swell or rot | Swells, warps and rots when wet |
| Termites | No wood content to attack | Vulnerable |
| Wet areas | Suitable for bathrooms and kitchens | Not recommended |
| Maintenance | Wipe clean | Regular polish and paint |
| Size | Made to your opening | Made to size by carpenter |
| Look | Wood-grain and carved finishes | Natural wood |
| Warranty | Lifetime warranty (DEX) | Usually none |
Why the Door Frame Is Just as Important as the Door
A door is only as good as the frame (chokhat) it hangs on. Many homeowners install a water-resistant fiber door on an old wooden chokhat, and a few years later the frame swells, rots at the floor or is hollowed out by termites. The door may be perfect, but it no longer closes properly.
The door leaf and the door frame are separate products. If you want the whole opening to resist moisture and termites, the frame must be non-timber too.
What Are HDPE Door Frames?
HDPE stands for high-density polyethylene, a tough material that does not absorb water, rot or attract termites. As described in our catalogue, DEX HDPE door frames offer:
- Moisture and termite resistance, even in washrooms.
- A stable profile that stays straight and true, so doors keep closing properly.
- A wood-grain finish that matches DEX fiber doors and takes polish well.
- A rebated edge, with the door stop moulded into the profile.
- Standard hardware: regular hinges, locks and screws fit directly.
- Made to your opening sizes, as a long-lasting replacement for wooden chokhats.

Fiber Door + HDPE Frame: The Complete Door Solution
Pairing a DEX Fiber Door with a DEX HDPE frame gives you an opening where neither part relies on timber. The frame’s wood-grain finish matches the door, standard hinges screw straight into the frame, and both are made to your measured opening. For bathrooms, kitchens and ground-floor rooms where termites are common, this is the combination we recommend.
Frames are quoted separately from doors, so you can also order a door alone to fit a sound existing frame.

HDPE Frame Profiles, Finishes and Hardware
The DEX HDPE frame uses an engineered profile designed for easy, secure installation:
- Solid, rebated profile: an internal channel adds strength without extra weight.
- Reinforced back: fixing points for secure installation.
- Standard hinges: screw straight into the frame.
- Finishes: teak, mahogany, walnut and textured (wave and ebony), with custom shades on request.

Locks, handles and hinges are chosen per project and are not included unless listed on your quotation. In bathrooms, choose stainless steel hinges and screws.
How to Measure Your Door Opening
Accurate measurements mean a door and frame that fit first time:
- Width: measure the opening at the top, middle and bottom. Use the smallest figure.
- Height: measure on both sides and in the centre, from the finished floor level. If tiling or flooring is not finished yet, tell us the final floor height.
- Wall thickness: needed to size the HDPE frame.
- Existing frame: if you are keeping your chokhat, send the inside size of the frame plus a photo.
- Finish and colour: choose a model code and colour.
- Quantity per size: list how many doors and frames you need at each size.
Every DEX frame is labelled with its size and stretch-wrapped, so your team fits the right frame to the right opening.

Maintenance and Care
- Clean with a soft cloth, water and mild soap.
- Avoid thinner, acetone, strong acids and abrasive scourers, which can damage the finish.
- Check hinge and handle screws once or twice a year and tighten if loose.
- Protect new doors from cement, plaster and paint splashes during construction; remove the protective film at handover.
That is all. There is no regular repainting, and no rot or termite treatment for the door leaf.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are fiber doors waterproof?
The FRP leaf of a DEX Fiber Door is water-resistant: it does not soak up water, swell or rot, which makes it suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and other wet areas. For a fully moisture-resistant opening, pair it with an HDPE frame rather than a wooden chokhat.
Are fiber doors termite-proof?
The door leaf contains no wood, so termites have nothing to feed on. A wooden frame can still be attacked, which is why we recommend DEX HDPE frames for termite-prone areas.
Can you make a fiber door in my size?
Yes. Every DEX door is made to your opening, up to 8 ft high and generally 2 to 4 ft wide per leaf. Wider openings use a double door.
How thick are DEX fiber doors?
All DEX Fiber Doors are 1.5 inches thick.
Can a fiber door be fitted in my existing chokhat?
Yes, if the frame is sound, square and free of rot or termites. Send us the inside size and a photo of the frame.
Is the frame included with the door?
No. HDPE frames are a separate item and are quoted per size together with your doors if you need them.
Are DEX fiber doors fire-rated?
No. Standard DEX Fiber Doors are not fire-rated. Openings that require a certified fire door need a separately certified fire door assembly.
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
DEX fiber doors carry a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Hardware, misuse and installation by others are covered separately; ask us for the warranty terms with your quotation.
